Splash guard in my situation is the plastic guard located between the front drive tires and the fuel tanks.
Pulled in from my run today and noticed my splash guard hanger was drooping. Inspection showed rust had weakened it beyond repair. So, I yanked it off and drove to the stealership. Stealership had the stock plastic guards in pairs for $300 but none in stock. The parts guy looked up after market and a shiny stainless replacement is $160/ set. No brainer, but none in stock.
Couldn't make Truck Pro before they closed so now I'm rolling with one splash guard.
Looking at the FMCSA book, I can't find a requirement for these guards.
I'm sure going over scales with just one on my truck is going to flag me for an inspection but will I be in violation? I have to cross two scales tomorrow and they are VA scales that do not have a rolling weigh system. Stop and be observed system only.
Of course I will get my guards ASAP but I have to run without them for two days before I can get them replaced. Anyone ever get a ticket for it?
Splash Guard removed, will I pass inspection?

I believe you are talking about quarter fenders and You dont have to have anything on there. Its just simply to keep crap from getting bounced off the back of the bunk.
stillwurkin and Tb0n3 Thank this. -
Don't believe they are required. However, you have one still on the truck that a good inspector may notice. I think, not positive, that there is a sort of blanket rule that covers faulty/missing equipment. Sort of like missing the end of a plastic bumper cover. Someone with a better memory of the regs will be along to correct me if I'm wrong.

On second thought, I think you're right -
Can you get a ticket for missing equipment that is not required? Like a plastic bumper cover? -

Don’t think these are required. My daycab doesn’t have them.
He is talking about the splash guard in front of the drives. -

What kind of day cab you gots? -
08 Cascadia single screw. Non of our trucks have them.
Work for a major LTL. They order the trucks bare bone, so I assume it’s not required.Doing_flatbed_nc Thanks this.
