    Only as far as Yellowknife KH...the mines have cut back big time this year...they were expecting to do over 12,000 loads...last I heard they had cut back to 5,100.

    Everyone is too nervous to do much....Obama's scare tactics have bled over the border some...so we're all watching to see how bad the Dem's screw you guys before we do too much else!

    :biggrin_25510::biggrin_25510:

    Our economy is so closely tied to yours...whatever happens down there effects us. So, everyone is...waiting. I think we, in Alberta, will be OK...We have had a staunch conservative government for over 100 years...we believe strongly in saving money for a rainy day...we learned from our mistakes in the past & won't make the same ones twice...Our provincial government has a huge savings fund for just these times...it should cushion us from alot of the liberal nutcases out there! LOL

    Thanks for the info wildcat. It really sucks about the new engines. Looks like were gonna have to go to all glider kits until they ban them.

    I hear that! Trouble is.. it's only going to get worse come 2010...No wonder CAT has given up on the truck engine market!

    I'm a Canadian Citizen w/a US CDL. Can I transfer it and my endorsements to a Class 1 in BC?

    No. Among other things you will have to go to air brake school. They used to let you skip the written test but you had to do driving test. Best bet is to check with DMV.

    After reading this current thread, I believe I'll keep my cold weather hating tailfeathers right down here in the Lakelands. -10F is too cold for me, and that can be the average during some of our winters (I don't live in Buffalo, thank god!). -40F of C is just too unbelievable! I'd be afraid of some parts I'm very attached to falling off! Max respect to all the drivers who run all those way northern roads. But don't expect to see my sorry butt up there, boy howdy!

    whats intresting is its actually warmer usually up in prudhoe bay then some of the interior of alaska, just this past winter i was in fairbanks in febuary we had a crazy warm spell and it rained for two days then dropped to 59 below zero, (wish i still had the pic i took of the thermometer) just to get back to anchorage we were chaining up tractors drives the steer tires and a set on the trailer.

    We chain in the rockies, we experience whiteouts in Wyoming and we don't get a movie made about us. Drove fish runs for the "Ice Road Outfit" and I think their
    claim to fame is stretched. Harsh conditions-you bet. There are others experiencing harsh conditions as well. Speaking of fish runs we didn't get mentioned on "deadliest catch either"

    Yeah the whole show is kind of laughable at times, especially when they don't even get the names of the hills right. Another thing is they never mentioned when there camera crew slammed into the back of one of our tankers sending a couple camera men to the hospital.
