Like I have said on this issue before, look around and do the math. If you can find a job that pays more on an annual basis that is equal to or greater than the amount that you owe on the loan, switch jobs. Take the extra money and pay off the loan. If you improve your situation and make more money why not?

To answer the actual question of the thread, there are no driver loopholes in those contracts.

The dbls boss is the problem. I'm looking for the correct chain of command, I suspect they got wind of how serious I am about these safety issues, they are now approving the maintenance. 3 different shops to go to.driverdriver Thanks this.

Make sure you contact the DBL's bosses boss and on up the latter and make sure the safety dept. knows what's going on too.

I don't think you should regret going the carrier school route, you did get your CDL and 4 months experience. Depending on the contract you signed.... you should be 1/3 of the way thru your payments?? Unless it is an all or nothing contract... I don't know how they work.
If the contract for the schooling was in the 3-4k range, I'd say that was about typical for private fees.
Positive side...you've gained some valuable experience on what to look for in your next gig... you know some red flags for sure to look for.
Think about lost income for being punished... that money lost or earned elsewhere could easily go towards your loan.
I'm guessing you drag a van?
Is the company near your house? I ask cuz that is how I chose to look when I came back to the road. My company doesn't have a terminal near me, but does have a large account near me, where we can park and also are loaded out of... so I was able to visit, look over all equipment. Find a few drivers to chew on their ears a bit... get a feeling overall. I did this with several companies around the house.
I am happy with my choice, very happy. I vetted them, just as they vetted me.
In hindsight... I wish I'd taken their schooling, It would have been better.... but I didn't want that contract! Money for school wasn't an issue, it was that CONTRACT thing...lol... But I didn't know you could walk away and make payments on the loan... so yes, hindsight is 20/20.amanwithcrabs Thanks this. -
Company refused to fix unsafe equipment could be a loophole?
-
I was thinking that...But I'd say the training and the loan is for CDL school. Having employee isusses is probably another thing entirely? Two separate things....
-
I would think if the school and the company were one in the same it be a justifiable loophole.
-
Me also.... But I'd bank that most companies figured that out along time ago...lol
