Not sure what gave you the impression that's what I want to hear anyways, I was asking for honest advice, simple as that. My lack of verifiable experience and a hit on my record from 3.5 years ago and being off a truck for 2 1/2 years, it's not like offers are just falling into my lap.

People need drivers, not sure what the hit is on your record but you can find something better than this if you hit the streets and talk to companies in person. It’s easy to tell someone no on the phone, harder to do to their face.

I did some digging on the company , and they have a 25% out of service rating on inspections, 5.5% higher than the national average. As well, 3 rip off reports in the last year of drivers not being paid on time or at all for that matter, think this tells me all I need to know

Now before you read into this and instantly jump on 1099 or working for a foreign company , let me start off by saying I've had my Class A CDL for 10 years though, spotty verifiable experience due to 2-3 of the companies I've worked for are no longer in business or contactable. So, I have a offer today that intrigued me simply because when I ran as a lease operator 5 years ago , I got to see first hand how much the company was being paid per load vs. what I was making, and told myself if I ever worked for a small company again I would want to run % of the load vs. cents per mile on practical miles PC Miller etc...

SO this is what they offered me, I'd rather 1099 and % and make more money than go back to a mega carrier and work for student wages is my thought, as long as the pay and loads are consistent.. I don't know how the loads are booked or if we have control over that yet, I'll get more details later.

Here is a little about how we run and where we go

We can run all 48 states depends on driver but primarily don’t run passed PA In the NE, Denver co and Tx on the west side. We have some drivers that are from wa and ca so of course we run them passed co and Tx. We have 2016-2018 trucks and 2017 and 2018 trailers dry vans and reefers 53. We pay on a percentage 45% and u r responsible for the fuel of course we have Fuel cards and u get all the discount benefits that come w it, (up to 14c per gal). This allows us to weed the good drivers from the bad, and when u pay attention where u fuel that money goes into ur pocket. So all we did is channel the money a little better, it’s leaving the company regardless, it’s better it going to the driver instead of to the truck stop. This way we make sure the driver gets it. This a 1099 job we have a sign on bonus and 1 week paid vacation after 6mo We r pretty easy going and upfront, we don’t won’t to waist time on drivers that are not ready to make money. Our drivers don’t do more then 2500 miles / week

I would run from that,.. I have no problem with 1099. But if your covering fuel expenses you need to get at least 55 - 60%.

After fuel you can potentially end up with less than 20%. More like 15%

Fuel is my biggest expense. If I could talk a sucker into paying for my fuel for 45% of my gross AND drive the truck too?!?,.. I would be all over that.

A company like this will only attract drivers who have burned bridges and or screwed up their driving record so badly,.. they have no other alternative.

Dont fall into this trap.

Find someone else.

I don't understand.....they want to pay you 45 percent but you're responsible for the fuel? As in you have to cover the fuel cost? This isn't a far cry from lease purchase

Yeah that's basically what it is with a walk away option for the lost of the initial $1000 deposit
