I'm not sure how much extra she gets for training, but with 4 years experience isn't 28cpm when running alone still low?

Does not having him drive in the city make for an idiot? How is he supposed to get the experience when he does all the freeway driving? When he is out on his own?

At 4 years, she should be making significantly more.

As for the interstate driving with no city driving. He isn't being trained at all. You can train a monkey, to hold the wheel straight.

.28 CPM is real low. I got on with a tanker company as a rookie right out of school at 34 empty and 41.5 loaded. Must be some skeletons in his closet keeping him from leaving. Doesn't Covenent hire some folks who might not be able to work elsewhere?

I think your right wsyrob. My husband went there out of school. I didn't know about this forum until just recently. Wish I had. Hopefully things get better ( I am an optimist) and he can go back to the moving business with CDL in hand. He already has 11 years experience. I will double check that 28cpm figure. I hope I misunderstood something.

Imlearnin, there's something wrong with this info... I checked with a friend who is a trainer at Cov. He has 3 years experience and makes .32 cpm. Also have a chart I got at Payroll dept. It shows pay at all levels. For trainer, Certified is .32 cpm; Senior is .325 cpm; master .33 and for master with 4 years it's .345 cpm. As solo, with less than 7 months I was making .31 cpm. Ah, forgot to say, trainers make 600.00 when student passes test on first attempt and 300.00 if student passes on second try.

Thanks for the info. everyone. That makes me feel better. Rocks, did you start making that .31 after your 6 months of team driving? Not to sound like a broken record, but do you remember if it got busier in spring and summer last year. For some reason this info. seems really important to him. He has a guy to team with and would like to stay. If only we had a crystal ball....

..you can't drive the mountains in Oregon winters without chaining up, it's the law here so you'll be spending a lot of time at the truck stops until the snow melts! :biggrin_25518:

I drove as solo driver right after my 6 months teaming (although co. did not want anyone to move to solo division). According to the chart I got at payroll dept:

    Solo (otr)
    3-6 mos - 0.270
    7-12 mos - 0.310
    1-2 yrs - 0.330
    2-3 yrs - 0.340
    3-4 yrs - 0.350
    4-5 yrs - 0.360
    over 5 yrs - 0.370

Solo dedicated pays a little less....

Team XL, dedicated & reefer teams
    0-3 mos - 0.170 (total mileage)
    4-6 mos - 0.180 (total mileage)
    7- 12 mos - 0.195 (total...)
    1 yr - 0.205 (total)
    2 yrs - 0.210 (total)
    3 yrs - 0.215 (total)
    4 yrs - 0.220 (total)
    5 yrs - 0.225 (total)
    6 yrs - 0.230 (total)
    7 + yrs - 0.235 (total)

Miles while teaming generally are pretty good bcause trainers get very good miles. After training, that will depend on how the team performs and how efficient dispatcher is. My miles have always been good. I run hard, do a very good job and always keep good communication with dispatchers and others in the co. During December miles were low for almost eveybody. Ah, forgot to say that now, with the mandatory perdiem, the cpms are reduced a little.... check with payroll. Take care :biggrin_25519:

Thanks Rocks. You rock!! It's nice to see some positivity (is that a word?) from someone at Covenant. I'm glad to hear it's working out well for you. I will pass on all the good information I receive from everyone on to my husband. Hopefully he will be done with those pesky 35 segments soon. It's been 7 1/2 weeks.
