they did get away with it cause all those drivers came over and drove for Calark must of greased the palms of some officials well that was until the FBI investigated it.,and also when i came over there on a working visa in 05 we applied for TX CDL's i was not required to surrender my Aussie drivers licence. Also only about 5 years ago i applied for a UT car licence i was not asked to hand in my Australian drivers licence.

That's interesting.
Something for me to chew on today. But it's ok. Whatever they want to do. IN America you cannot possess more than one license anyway. The closest I came to international was in england for a while and dealing with a rental car they said I could run on my american license as a courtesy but needed to remember Kilometers etc.
Of course having just graduated highschool, my family would rather burn in hell than see me take the wheel at that time period. -
What you'll find is its your state licence you can't have more than one of same as here if i moved from Queensland to Victoria, licences are interchangeable so i would go into the Dept of Transport say i now want a Victorian licence they would then issue me with a new licence however they would void my current Queensland licence. By the way those international licences are more for going to countries that won't recognize your individual countries licence. Traveling to the USA, Canada or the UK your own licence is sufficient to hire a car. If one was coming over on a work visa then of course its a different story one would need to apply for the necessary licence needed to perform their task. Just as i did when i came over to drive for Millers got my CDL issued in Weatherford TX. passed first time then they shipped us all over to Utah to begin our orientation no mucking around there i went out for about a week with an Englishman who'd only been driving Tractors in the USA for a few months they then put me in my own truck and off i went off yonder delivering truck loads of Schriber cheese to Cosco's and Albertsons..x1Heavy Thanks this.

Someone told him that, because they had to pay dues. Its just not fair to make someone pay dues. Even if that $45 a month pays for thier families health care coverage and a pension)
Plus GASP can you believe this??? They had to hold a political sign up every 4 years, and only got paid thier regular hourly rate to do it.Fold_Moiler Thanks this. -
I know of a guy that lost his CDL in that. This guy had a family to feed. I helped him with getting ready and he went through the process and got his Ga CDL. Last I heard he is doing LTL and making some great money.
