It has its moments.... but I say march forward brother, it has its benefits as well. So far I'm blessed for the most part. Best of luck to you on your journey!

 

So here's the deal....Landstar has been good to me and could probably be good going forward. But for the last six months much of what I see is RGN's pulling stepdeck freight for stepdeck rates and stepdecks trying to pull RGN freight for van rates. I can't participate in that kind of stupidity. I'm not here for the practice, I'm here to make money.

A guy I know approached me and had a dedicated customer that has committed to enough work for more trucks than he owns. So I'll probably be pulling a tanker a lot, some flat/step and hauling some cows when time allows. The rates are solid and the work is closer to home.

I've been getting 65% from LS. I'll probably be leasing on to this guy with my own plates and IFTA rather than having my own authority right away. But I'll be getting 85%. And I'll have the freedom to do things that LS wouldn't allow.

Risky? Yes...but with my own plates it would be easy to fire up my own numbers if necessary. Like an old friend used to say, if we're going to have a swim team, somebody's got to get wet. It may take a few weeks to fill the pool, but it's time to jump in for a swim.
