You wouldn't believe how common that is. I personally don't care how zig zagged across the country a load is, as long as it pays accordingly for the time and miles.
Just strap and go

Yeah, I hear that. I try to get as much information as possible when I go to set a load up. Nothing frustrates me more than an incomplete picture. "PPDCT, I've got a load of equipment that needs to be picked up. It'll be legal." "...Kay. What kind of equipment?" "Jobsite stuff." "...Okaaaay. what kind of jobsite stuff? Attachments, plate, whatcha got?" "Couple of buckets, some sticks, toolboxes, that sorta stuff. Won't know for sure til he gets there." "...Alright."
Now, I gotta pitch that- most of the time I can make it work, but I've had more than a few, "Yeeeeah, I'mma have to pass. Thanks, though," as a result. Good customer of mine, minus that particular foible, but they're constantly shifting what stuff is what around.Tug Toy, Rounded_nut, DSK333 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Oh, I would. When it happens, I generally try to tell the customer in question that it's probably more cost effective to break it down into two partials.
-
Yep. But hey as long as they meet my number ill haul their partials and call it a "stopoff"
-
Oh, for sure. And I tell them that, too. It just makes me have to work harder when that pops up (like once in a few hundred loads). Seems like a lot of folks are the opposite of you in that respect.Tug Toy Thanks this.

Well my view is trucking is all about customer service. I'll provide whatever service they want, be it weird zig zag stopoffs that are really partials, or those jobsite pickups where you really have no idea what you are loading till you get there, but that service don't come cheap. I am definately not a 2$ a mile is good money truck. Heck with these kind of loads 3$ isn't good money.

TQL likes to call me with strap and go loads. I know as soon as those words come out I’m about to get f’d.
6wheeler Thanks this. -
I like "its no tarp", I tell them I run a tarp and side kit. Most have no idea what that is anymore. "is it removable"? I tell them if you have a months or more work for me I will break it down. Other than that if it don't fit under my cover wagon I don't haul it. Guess I'm getting lazy. The fricking remote tarp on hopper has really made me lazy too.
PPLC and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Tarped or not tarped is the the fourth thing out of my mouth after commodity, dimensions, and weight. Don't run into a lot of sidekits, but they work just fine for most of my flatbed loads.jamespmack Thanks this.

Why does TQL always have to call their "broker" to get answers to my questions? Is TQL double brokering everything?
