As long as it's not too warm I ditch the a.c. altogether, the first 2 vehicles I ever had didn't have a.c.

OMG guys, you do know you can turn up the heat a little on the controls to warm the dry air?

put the a/c on MAX for a few minutes to get the cab cold, THEN switch to A/C, which should then open up the air vents, to allow for fresh air to come in. you are inhaling recirculated air, when you leave it on MAX all day/night long.

leaving the window open a bit DOES allow fresh air as well, but it is not going thru any vent filter that your truck/car might have.

once per year, a filter should be replaced in our personal vehicles, if it has such a filter.

you can also check and clean the air intake which is usually on the passenger side, and usually easy to get at, and vacuum it clean....that evaporator housing collects not only dust, but it is moist as well, and mold can grow in there.

spray some "mold killer" found at most auto parts stores

also as important, make sure the evap drain tube is free and clear of any debris..if the run off water stays in the evap housing, mold will grow, and that will make you sick, as well as be odorous...

very often, i will "blend in" some warm air..also, in "some instances" especially at night, i run the defroster on cold, rather than the a/c...the defroster dehumidifies the air as well....and it does not get that cold like the a/c will

The defrosters also run the A/C, that's how they work really well on these trucks.

I had a business partner who was an A/C feign, he love it on even if it was 40 out.

We were traveling out west and the A/C went out on the vehicle we were driving, instead of waiting to get to California to get it fixed, this guy found the first place that had a shop that fixes A/C and had it fixed, it took four days in the middle of no where Wyoming. This vehicle also had an adjustable expansion valve to make it even more cold, so he had the tech make it freezing in side the car.

I just loved going across southern Nevada in a parka with the outside temp at 100.
