Jeez, I sure wish I could buy you a cup of coffee. Better yet give you a cup of my "good" stuff I have here. I can't drink coffee but I do serve it to people.

I'm just a company driver so I'm not sure of all the paper work involved but the deadline just passed at the end of August for filing your 2290 (I think that's what its called). Could this be why his authority was active until last month. Maybe he forgot to file or he got it filed late?

Ok then. Why do you wish you could buy me a cup of coffee? Or better still give me a cup of your good stuff.

No, It means that they have revoked his authority for violations, it could be paperwork, safety, or non payment of taxes. In any event, he is not allowed to move a truck. The only exception to that would be a farm truck, moving his own product to market. RUN

Have a similar question about a small company that's been around for 20 years in NY.
They offer to do regional runs from NY to VA.
They have both DOT and MC numbers and do both intrastate and interstate.
I checked these sites:
SAFER Web - Company Snapshot
Licensing & Insurance Carrier Search
Both say "unauthorized" or authority status is "none/inactive"
Public Inquiry
This says their company is "active"
I like to be understanding but I've been burned before so I'm doing my "due diligence."
