Overweight ticket, shipper wrong about weight.

All the same, when a driver signs the BOL, he takes the responsibility of making sure it’s legal. In my experience, shippers that mess up the weight on a load will usually rework it willingly enough. But I have never heard of a shipper paying an overweight fine.

 

If there is no scale at shipper, and no scale between shipper and Coop than what?

 

What does it #### take for a DRIVAH to go find a CAT scale on loading.

Take the 2700 out of his check. Or get it from the Shipper. It is not the true weight.

Any time your people signs a bill of lading (NOT shipper load and count...) you are legally certifying that load count and weight etc.

67000 pounds on your trailer versus 50 is a huge amount of weight. Ive scaled 52000 pound coils before legally with a Ravens perfect at 80000 and it's a BIG DEAL. That one was checked against a scale before going very far.

You might as well examine your tractor trailer in the shop for damages. Such as Crystallized bearings, etc.

 

Yea I would be calling them and having a word with somebody, that's pathetic to be that far off on what you claim your crap to weigh.

 

You stand there and count every item against the weight that you can put on the truck. Im not sure what it takes but in those situations, you might want to spend some money and install a set of load cells onto your suspension for weighing in real time directly in the cab. That 2700 dollars going out the door will have probably paid for some of it.

 

I agree but they did say “approximate” so they will probably use that to weasel out of any responsibility. Of course that’s a pretty liberal use of the word approximate lol.

Lol seriously, I personally have never had an issue. I have gone a ways out of my way to find a cat scale.

 

I definitely would be talking with the broker and if the shipper won't fix the load, or reduce it.
Than I'd say take the load back. Or somebody is going to need to pay 3 times the rate that was agreed for the debacle.
