Oh no. That's nuclear weapons stuff.

Its a extra proton and a extra electron if I remember right.

Im still angry at my science teacher from my first day in chemistry when she discovered just how poorly public education has been in mathematics. I made enough of a 9th grade education required to make honors as a valedictorian in my deaf school class graduation, but I don't even talk about that. (I graded into the 13th and 14th grades in several core subjects, essentially college level) Why? Most of my class present were not the sharpest pencils in that room. There were 4 that were REALLY good studies and deserve that particular honor more than anything. But they picked me because I was a showboat and had plenty of experience on stage leading hundreds at a time. I should have gone on to a circus barker or ring master...

Yea I said 35,000 but it could be any number as long as you get the point through to the driver that He Is Responsible for the weight on his truck. I see it like Dave_in_Az does, a seasoned driver should know, by looking at his BOL and Pulling that truck out from the dock, if he might have a weight problem or not. By setting it at 35,000 lbs, it lays it square on the drivers shoulders. A driver thats worth having is going to do the things he needs to do in order to help that company thrive, its called job security.

When I was a company driver, I worked for a company that had that requirement. I didnt weigh that truck everytime it was over 35,000, even though the company had that requirement. I used my experience to guide me. If I thought it needed weighing, Id weigh it. If I thought it would be ok, then Id save the company 7.00 and not weigh it. If I ended up getting a ticket, Id pay it myself because the company did have that policy in effect and I knew it was my responsibility to pay it.

You have to set policies that will build "Responsible" Drivers. You do not need a bunch of guys running around out there in 80,000 lb rigs not giving a flip about anything but getting paid. It will cost you a lot of money in the long run, maybe even your business?

I would like to know the answer to that question as well.

It's the one issue that really could have been avoided by CAT, learn over gross and go back to shipper to fix it.

I hate to say this, but this driver does not exhibit a care about weights. He just wants to be empty and get paid.
