If you have ten years under your belt you dont want to drive company for them unless its on one of their deticated runs.
-
From all of my studies on the companies that prehire, have schools or accept grads, England is the very, very lowest of the bottom feeders on my $#!(list! I would say they're not even a trucking company per se, they are one big con game.
-
I was a driver trainer for England, they say they have the miles and that is bs, if you go to work as a company driver you will starve to death. Dispatch priority is as follows Lease teams 1st- Lease solo 2nd-Company teams 3rd- and company solo's are sol, by the time they get to you the only thing left is short haul bs that is hard to make a check on. I tried to work with them by getting emty early and trying to keep moving but it does you no good to get empty early because all they are going to do is sit you anyway. I would avoid CRE like the plage.
Moving Forward Thanks this. -
Thanks for the comments. I
decided to go with ATS for now and see how that works.

I work for England. I deliver groceries to Wal Mart stores and can be home almost every day. I make about $1000/ week. CRE has hundreds of available jobs like this one. This job is flexible: when I feel burnt out I take it easy or take a few days off. If I want to max it out, the freight is pretty much all-you-can-eat. Generally, $1000/week is about as hard as I want to work though there are more than a few drivers here making more. The Health insurance is pretty cheap.
I know there are better jobs available and I will go for one when I have 2 years experience (got about 20 months now). In the mean time, I think this is a pretty good entry-level job and I'm glad to be here.
If any one wants to know more about the up side of England and how to avoid the downside - I'll answer questions for a few days. -
Hey dogtrucker, I'm a student about to graduate 6-week (240 hour) accredited trucking school. From what I've seen, CR England is a horrible place to start, but you say you have a good experience. So now I'm curious, $1000 a week? How many miles are you running, CPM? Benefits? Please tell more.

Oh yeah, some details:
I drive about 2,000 miles/ week at $0.36/mile plus stop pay. Medical/dental/optical is about $190/month. 1 week vacation after 1 year. CPM bonus based on longevity (for example: .03 @ 1yr, .04 @ 2yr, etc.) and other fleet related bonuses which only pay if the fleet as a whole does well.
You deliver to 2-4 stores per day. Where I work, Sterling, Il. there is some city driving but mostly in the country and suburbs.
A lot of drivers make less than me because they are unmotivated or just don't want to work hard. Some make more than me - mainly because they work harder. There is some flexibility about how much you want to work. Also, it took me about 3 months to prove myself and convince the DM's to notice and take better care of me.
Here is the explanation for all the complaining about CRE: They let people lease who are not mentally qualified to handle it (that is, IMO, bad and heartless of them). It is also not a generous lease so those who are less than competent tend to fail. As the company employs many thousands of drivers - that is a goodly number of failures. Some come to boards like these cry and complain and get sympathy. Then others repeat what they hear and it becomes an echo-chamber.
It's really not bad here. And if you don't like the job they give you, then you can ask for another one. I started as a team, went from regional to OTR, then went solo, then went dedicated - I thought all that was pretty accommodating on their part.Space Man Spiff Thanks this. -
Some of what you say is good solid advice. But about no fulltime trucker should be making less then a grand a week, then why so many full time drivers making 500 or less a week?Alot don't get that option to choose what you wanna do because of where they live.Crengland probably has the worst reputation and turnover rate in the industry. Not only here but on youtube, the streets all over.Surely all those drivers can't be wrong.
