    I wonder if there is a pond near the gates of heaven for him to pull into a little while.

    Believe it or not Smokey and the Bandit was filmed here in Arkansas with a number of landmarks still standing. There are other places where filming took place, particularly GA and a couple of others that are still standing with the exception of the famous wooden bridge which was burned some time ago.
