Well, I go back and forth... I have a real estate business but it's hit or miss some months. We have a 3 year old and one on the way in December. Of course, we like the steady income trucking will bring but being gone a week or 2 will be tough.

Yes, it is hard to be away from the kids. Any temp agencies that place CDL holders in your area? That will bring in the cash and if you are working nights, still allow for selling real estate. Not a lot of sleep, but cash coming in and a full time family life. Best wishes in whatever you decide to do.

I have worked with them for two years now, first year as a company driver and moved to owner operator, the gross was top of the line while using paper logs and they will keep you very busy if you are hardworking, but that's not the case any more since we all on elogs now. I got a co-driver and we have been running as a team and the gross amount has been great but last few months things took a downward turn when the company came up with a new policy of not sending rate confirmations to owner ops.
most customer freight and accounts are given to company drivers only, for owner ops they book your loads from the load boards, and NOTE THIS their dispatchers know the market well and have good relations with most brokers but they will pay the driver (owner operator) the least amount they can think of, if you turn down the load they tell you they negotiated with the broker and he will pay a little bit more. if you are unlucky and get to be dispatched by lora she will run you like a donkey and try to keep you under $2/mile regardless of how much the broker pays, i found her to be greedy, dishonest and manipulative, she will lie to drivers about anything just to get you to pickup a load and she will take out several thousands off most loads. Also seems like the company drivers number has grown too high for the management to pay enough attention to the owner operators. They are very strict with safety issues, you hit a deer and get fined $1395 immediately by the safety department, also you dont get to mess with the HOS or they will get rid of you.
Pay is every Friday direct deposit, no delays, and very accurate and easy to read statement.
Bottom line, this company has become pretty much same standards as SWIFT, SCHNEIDER, PRIME etc nothing special about them anymore

    Good afternoon.

My name is Sergey, I am the Director of Marketing at GP Transco. I saw your comment on this thread and wanted to address some of the issues and concerns you bring up.

First of all, I am sorry to hear about the issues you’ve experienced – our main goal as a company is to treat our drivers and owner-operators with honesty and respect; we do everything in our power to provide our drivers and owner-operators with a great work environment.

To start, you mention having an issue with using e-logs. As you might already know, companies are obligated to use e-logs by law. Also, we cannot legally do anything with HOS, nor would we want to – staying compliant is important to us, as compliance regulations are created to make sure drivers are not taken advantage of and stay healthy while not being overworked by the carrier.

Loads are given fairly to both company drivers and owner operators, all depending on the current market and the drivers’ preferences. I assure you that if are having issues with this, you are welcome to call your operations manager and he will do everything he can to resolve the situation. Also, not sharing rate confirmations electronically to avoid confusion is standard in the industry and is not done with the purpose of hiding information from drivers.

While it is true that we are growing as a company, we make sure to expand our operations and safety teams accordingly as we welcome more drivers. We go through intentional hiring freezes to re-evaluate our operations and make sure we are on top of things when it comes to dispatch and properly servicing our drivers and owner-operators. While a recent study shows that 91% of GP Transco drivers and owner-operators are happy driving with GP, you mention that GP Transco no longer stands out when it comes to care for drivers; I am sorry to hear you feel this way and would love to discuss these issues with you, or anything else you think we can do better. Please feel free to email me at sergey@GPtransco.com

Thank you and have a great day.

Does this company us bestpass or ezpass for tolls or is it all out of pocket and then reimburse each following paycheck?
