    I know how to chain...fortunately.

I'm one of those odd-ball guys that love to familiarize myself with MY equipment and how to USE it before just throwing it into the headache rack... I used tire chains once with my old super-single T660 to get off some wet grass at a crane delivery... if I didn't know how to use them they'd have to call for a tow.

I don't just take the tire chains/cables and throw them into the box like 90% of our drivers do. It's company policy NOT to use them during the ice-escapades that hit sawmill country every winter. That's fine. I'll park the #### truck if you want. But if I'm stuck at a rest area and I need to chain to get to a place where I can get fed... I'm chaining. Sorry Tulsa.

    Yup...

One of our "elite safe drivers" was talking to a group of new hires at Tulsa back when I was having all my Cummins-issues. So, naturally, I sit around and try to learn something. He starts telling a story about a winter up in the Seattle area, stuck on Snoqualmie Pass 6-7 miles east of the TA, winter blizzard, chain law goes up... and he parks it. Talks about his trials and tribulations gathering together peanuts to eat for the next 48 hours...

"You didn't just grab your tire chains and get to a safe haven?" - Stwik

I was ostracized from that group...

Company policy. Company policy. Company policy.... it'll get you killed. Enjoy your multi-colored truck

Forgot to say, that is an awesome pic. Years of crane moves, rig moves and wind farms...

Up in northern Canada, that’s all you see for hundreds of miles. Made me grateful to be able to sit in a real restaurant and eat.

Better you than me partner. At least in these parts we’re never too awful far from a town, or at least a blacktop road.

    Thanks for the compliment sir.

First chain rule. Know when to iron up, before u need to.
Second rule. Hang ur iron so it's ready to throw.

10 years ago, the money was so obscene that I had to. It was paying 3x the money I was making in the States...and that was for 4 days work. Stupid money! But then, suddenly, in 2009, it was gone.

No phone service. No internet. Just DVDs. I took the fridge and the tv out of the truck since then. Up there, you had to have them. Now? Not so much.

It’ll get you killed? That’s rich. Amazing the difference between what a freeway company calls an elite driver, and what a local company does.
