Well, I have been taking multivitamins along with other vitamins and supplements for many, many years. If I have wasted my money, I still feel healthy and I am almost 74 years old and run 4000 miles per week. Maybe the vitamins didn't help, maybe they did. I don't think that I am going to quit taking the vitamins on this one study.

The problem is RDA. Overcounter vitamins bought at your supermarket are 100% RDA, which means just enough traces of vitamin to keep you from getting scurvy or rickets and such from a vitamin DEFICIENCY. Notice that people who don't take vitamins don't have Scurvy any more.
    However.
Athletes, Bodybuilders, Powerlifters the world over have found that the megavitamin mixtures found at supplement stores (and don't waste money at the GNC ripoff chain) have a definitive effect on health and well-being. The amounts in these are staggering, since they're compared to the 100% RDA, which is about next to nothing.
Secondly, vitamins act off of minerals. If you are short on minerals, vitamins do nothing, which is why you have vitamin/mineral supplements. For minerals though, you don't need mega amounts. Trace will do.
If you could only take ONE vitamin, make it C.

I don't feel that MV help either, I do take them though, but even the One A Day brand has one with Evergy in it & I honestly don't feel the difference :(

I heard the same thing with that Diet Coke + Vitamins. I heard there is a lawsuit against Coke for that b/c they are misrepresenting due to the fact there is less than 1% of vitamins added to the Coke.

This study is very disappointing to me
But I still believe that in the long run they will help
The study speaks of an 8 year period
I am looking to live another 40 so an 8 year study may not be long enough

Also on a side note positive thinking has been proven to help health
So if taking vitamins just make me feel better about my health its still working

Sunshine: read my post closer. You said your MV isn't helping, then you admit to OTC vitamins. You don't FEEL anything because you're not GETTING anything, except less money in the wallet.
And even on megadoses, you don't really always feel it so much as you just don't feel crappy. And trucking (people/diet/lethargy/stress) can make you feel crappy. End rant.
