I hear that I need to keep the truck moving to make money and I understand that. I have been driving 17 years but I really do not like being OTR which is why I neer bought my own truck. I wonder if I could get a daycab and do local runs mostly or is this too far fetched?

pound the pavement and knock on doors will be the only way to find what you want.

Local runs can be very doable depending on location and often lucrative. If you establish a good relationship with a customer they will count on you being there for them so you can pretty much throw the part time thing out the window unless its some type of seasonal operation.

For you to be part time and have a steady account you will need to find a very trustworthy person to share the workload with...good luck with that.

Pay cash for a truck. Lease on with a good company that doesn't require minimum revenues. Work as little as you want.

    Lots of guys do this.

You can open your own authority pay truck and trailer cash and do something close.
Local stuff is usually LTL from box vans to flat beds.

You are going to have full time bills every month, truck payment, insurance payment MC and DOT issues, mail to go through by the pile, fuel bills etc etc etc etc

Bills never stop. If that truck sits too long you are out of business entirely.

Maybe I should have mentioned that my wife and I are doing well together and feel that work life balance is becoming more important than making the MOST money. Just need something steady. Not trying to do the most anymore.
