Sorry for the delay in responding... 10 weeks remain now. I originally started night class with 2 other people but they quit in the first week...... so my class got delayed. I restarted last night with a new group so now my classes stop the 1st week of September, I'm told I should be able to get a appointment to do the road test quickly but we shall see. I'm hoping to have everything done by the middle of September at the latest, my current job is just getting worse and worse.

If you plan on driving for the rest of your days I'd say flatbed. There will always be flat bed loads, all the time everywhere, and if you want to be OO it would be way easier to start that way. Pulling tankers would pay just as good, but probably a lot more difficult to be freelance. You could own the truck, and maybe even the trailer if it's dedicated work, but more than likely still always need to be pulling for a company. With flatbed you'd just be a dude with a trailer, strap it down and roll and get paid. (Ps: tankers deliver to some shady shady nasty places sometimes. Sweating from tarping a couple hours would not compare to 6 hours in a rubber suit in a foot of mud.)
