I guess there no good paid cdl training NC they want you to have your cdl already. Old dominion want you to work on the dock. And Millis wants too much down payment.

Just give the folks at CR England a call. They will hook you up with a CDL AND you wont have to worry about working the dock at a crummy outfit like Old Dominion.

CdlRookie1974, Chinatown and Coover Thank this.

i actually know a driver at Old D, that started on the dock, something like 40 years ago, when we were BOTH in trucking school..

he went to OD, i went long haul

he only worked the dock for like a couple of months, been there ever since, has a great retirement plan...

sometimes, it's all a test, to see what you're made of, what you can put up with, what you can handle...

good luck, and never discount working the docks....in fact, what WILL YOU DO, when you get a job, and find that YOU MUST work the docks loading or unloading..???

Plus you'll get like 6 months of training while your fleece operaider twaina runs teams with you 7000+ miles a week. Granted you'll only make maybe 10 cents a mile on miles you drive . But hey free twainin

yeah trucking and docks go hand in hand. You'll actually learn how to handle/move freight, pallets, fork lift use, estimate weights, load a trailer, unload a trailer etc....unless you're just interested in climbing behind the wheel and driving and not the least bit concerned with what's in your wagon. It's up to you. Luck to ya'

It's cool don't mind working on dock but don't want the permit to expire for waiting to get trained
