Heavy you make it sound like its environmentally friendly to burn your oil in the camp fire pit. It is not. (I hope you don't burn your tires.)
Incinerators have a controlled burn of all fuel. Your fire pit does not.
Sad that you would do this. More sad you would recommend anyone else do that.
Recycle that waste oil or give it to someone with a waste oil furnace.
Fire is a tool. Not all uses of fire are good. Wood burning in your furnace OK.
Wood burning in a forest fire. Not good.
Doing your own Oil changes, is it worth it?

Used motor oil IS HAZMAT, thats the point. so should go to the shop that takes hazmat.
As far as burning the fields that is good for regeneration. -
Waste oil furnaces are illegal in some places.

I think I might try it. I drip burn it into my wood stove now but it is starting to back up on me.
And wood burning in a forest fire is good.fargonaz Thanks this. -
My changes are done in my dirt drive and spills are lit up. That pollution is better in the air instead of my well water. Folks around here still but their trash and leaves, etc; a little oil ain't no big deal.

Where do you think it ends up when you burn it. ACID RAIN. It doesn't magically disappear
-
That's what I used to do. Burned in old carb type oil burner with 50% fuel oil and burned clean, no black smoke

I looked for oil and the filters for my truck, I can't buy them for less than my mechanic sells them to me for. He passes the discount along, (on all parts) and charges I think 85 or 90 in labor. He does not charge me for parking when I am home. So I pay to have it done. I do not want my truck in my driveway. Neighbors are cool, there just isn't much room.

The dealer is theee most expensive place to do it. And they don' do any more or better than Speedo, petro etc... Only benefit is if the person doing it. Notices something else, they will tell the shop for man. Who in theory will call and tell you about. But near in mind, the person doing it at a dealer. Is the newest hire, lowest paid, least experienced person that works there. (USUALLY)MackRookie and whoopNride Thank this.

If you like doing it yourself no worries keep in mind if you do pay a mechanic these costs can be claimed as a taxable deduction come tax time.MackRookie Thanks this.
