Never heard of such a thing.

    It's your money. Pay up.

The closest to insurance would have been one incident in which a little one ton tow was called to clean up about roughly 15000 dollars worth of trailer inventory kicked over a 30 foot embankment (That's what they get for chaining them all together) and the HD manager demanded me pay cash for the one ton. I said no sir. You add it to the losses and bill it. I did not think we as part of a accident scene was obligated to reach into the wallet and hand over cash that is not traceable. Never heard of such a thing.

If the wreck involved my 18 wheeler with grievous damage my boss will certainly have to pay a tow heavy truck to come fetch it. And there will be very expensive bills coming at him in a hurry.

I have Great Wide insurance and surprisingly it has towing in case of breakdowns and also if you need to be pulled out of skating rink in the winter even! First time I have had this type of coverage and was much cheaper then Progressive as well! Oh and if your truck is broke down a week or more you get a paycheck of I think $450 a week or something but I would never use this as I am sure your next policy will go way up!

Towing to a nearby place is not an issue. The problem is when you need to tow it to your entrusted shop...let's say over 500 miles. I don't think any insurance would pay for it.

I wasn’t aware there was insurance for towing. That’s nice although like was said I’d be reluctant to use it. This last new truck I bought, Cummins had an extended 5 yr 500k warranty that also including towing which is pretty cool. Might take that into consideration when your due for a new truck.

Frankly though if you can’t afford towing, you probably won’t be able to afford the repair. Demand higher rates.
