Hey ya'll! Finished my permit and Medical cert last week and getting ready for school in Burleson, Texas on Sept. 24th! After successful completion of class and training i will be offered the Texas Regional route. I'm pretty excited and anxious all at once... I'm hoping yall could help me out with 2 questions that i have:
1) How is the Texas Regional: (Fort Worth/Dallas/Houston/San Antonio) route?
2) Where can I park the rig when I get home time? I live south of Houston. About smack dab in between Houston and Galveston.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to meeting ya'll one day! I've read all 431 pages of this forum and I'm worried to tell yall where I'm from cause ya'll seem to hate it! Lol.

I definitely DON'T hate the state or the people. I definitely DO hate your roads. That access road garbage isn't helpful, it's awful. I went back once since I left Millis. That'll never happen again.Suspect Zero Thanks this.

Lol, I live in Houston because my wife is still active duty, but I'm originally from St. Louis.Farmer54 Thanks this.

Welcome @wear.yer.kilt
I’m used to the frontage roads, I don’t mind it, in fact I kinda fit in as I’m from GA. Lolz,,,,
As last year, I’m missing all the terminal cookouts during driver appreciation week. I reckon one of y’all is gonna have to drive my new Chevy truck that I win to GA for me.
Yep, missing cookouts but got a surprise today at Miller in Elkton VA. Drove up and pop up tents were set up at the guard shack with grills and coolers. Got a styrofoam plate of two grilled hot dogs with chips, baked beans and a soda. I thought very cool. Thanks Miller/Coors!Suspect Zero and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this. -
Not about trucking or Millis except I have to thank William, my dispatcher, for making this happen. Kinda excited as I haven’t taken 3 days in a row off in a year and a half,,,, well,,,, because I haven’t asked.
Taking a long weekend in Perry GA, my old stomping grounds in high school. I went to a private school there full of doctor and lawyer kids and then there were us country kids. Well, a few of us deplorables are getting together Saturday night after 40 years for food and drinks. No formal crap amongst this group. Just sheer unadulterated bull #### and smack talk.
Here’s the kicker. There’s this girl,,,, uh huh, you knew it was coming. She and I had a crush on each other in high school but neither of us knew. She was dating a jock, I was the big country football player dating a cheerleader. We had no idea until a couple months ago. Anyway, she’s divorced, I’m divorced, all kids are grown up so why the hell not? This is gonna be interesting as hell. She’s driving up from Mobile AL to hang out for the weekend and see old friends. It’ll be about 10 of us. It’s gonna be epic or a disaster, or maybe an epic disaster. There will be no pictures. Lolz,,,,,dwells40, Suspect Zero, intrepidor and 1 other person Thank this. -
To answer your question about where to park, download “Trucker Path” to your iPhone/Droid. They use Google Earth to plot most trucks tops, weigh stations, rest areas and a lot of other stuff. Pick out a tstop close to you but by all means, check with the owner of the tstop to see if you can extended Park there. Most do not allow it for free but will for a fee.wear.yer.kilt Thanks this.

Going on 3 years and I've never hit 1 of the cookouts. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure they plan them for the day after Im somewhere....left Weedsport Mon morning cookout was Tuesd....left Richfield this morning cookout was today....left Trenton this afternoon cookout is tomorrow lmao. And this has happened a ridiculous amount of times. Oh well Dont like being around bunch of drivers anyway lol. Be safe this weekend everyone . This hurricane doesnt look good. Glad I'll be in bfe IL on hometime headed for Memphis on mon morning.Suspect Zero and Farmer54 Thank this.

You don't like Texas-style service roads? I fell in love with them long before I became a truck driver. I thought they were confusing at first but helpful once you get the hang of how they're setup.

Hell no. I hate those stupid things.CaptainDaveG and Suspect Zero Thank this.
