As the title says I have a C15 acert (05 379) with a single turbo conversion. I bought the truck with the work already done. I got about 15,000 miles out of it before it started to derate on climbs when hooked to a trailer.(won't seem to do it bobtail) you will be pulling a hill all is good and boost suddenly drops from roughly 40psi to around 25. The check engine light comes on but seems to flicker off at times. I did manage to have it read and was told low back pressure was the code and I likely needed a tune? Is this correct? Did they convert without a tune? Could it be anything else? Thanks! Jason

I forgot to mention it will say derated until you shut it down and restart it. Then it will run fine until you need a steady amount of higher boost.

I purchased a 2006 From a known dealer in Amarillo a year ago, same engine. Same problem. Replaced every sensor on it, in and out of dealerships, no one could find problem. Decided to install 6 pack injectors, was looking at air to air boots, saw a black spot on one, rubbed it and it was cracked about an inch and a half!!! the metal ring was in the crack and you couldn't tell until you pushed it! Inspect all 4 air to air rubber boots. Also check Turbo Boost Sensor, The plug becomes brittle w/ Heat and age.

Sure sounds like a VVA fault. Have you pulled the flash code?

It clears as soon as you shut it off so no flash codes

You really need to check for boost leaks. Codes should be stored in ecm.

Next time, don't shut it off and pull flash code when CEL is on. Just guessing til then.

I get a code 95 when running. If I shut it down it clears and has no history of fault. Have replaced the Ivr sensor and selenoid on passenger side of engine. Still blinks code when pulling a trailer not bobtailing?
