I plan to get my own truck and don't want the boss to know where I go during off times like to a friends house. Can the location be disabled for privacy when I am bobtailing?
Can you disable KeepTruckin location for off duty?

If it is your truck, the boss has no say in what you do or where you go while off duty relatively speaking.
TruckRunner and Bank_Lbr Thank this. -

If you own the truck the only boss around is when you look in the mirror every morning.
Now you might sign a contract with a company and be bound by that. It would be up to the contract you willingly signed.brian991219 Thanks this. -
Right I will sign a contract for the first time and not sure how anal the boss will be so I rather play it safe than to have him questioning why I bobtailed to a neighborhood. I rather him see that I am at a truckstop. As I get older I realize people are mostly hypocrites and attack you for things they would do in the same situation. As a company driver my company expects me to sit at a shipper for a week rather than bobtail to a shopping mall area with a lot of restaurants and wait there. I look out for myself first and make sure to always deliver the load but sometimes I want to hang out with friends.

Again. The only boss is you. You will not have a boss if you own your own truck. At most you will have a long term relationship in a business to business agreement.
If you keep with the mindset of working for a company, like an employee you will fail. Get in your mind you are a business providing a service.TruckRunner and Bank_Lbr Thank this. -
Legally you can't unhook the tracking /ELD device from the truck and then move it. That is the reason for the ELD to know when the truck moves and locations of move, including miles.
You can park in a truck stop and take a uber or have a friend pick you up. The carrier will always know where that truck is if it's on ELD and working property.Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Just re read first post, lol.TruckRunner and Bank_Lbr Thank this.
