Are all the new 2019 trucks automatics for company drivers? I wonder if even the lease trucks will be soon be all automatic.

It is slowly becoming as rare to see a manual truck at all companies as it is to see a truck without power steering or air conditioning. In 5 years or less they will be as rare as 4 leaf clovers, thank goodness. Manuals are old outdated technology with no place in the modern world. We are on the verge - long term - maybe 20 years is my guess of having fully self driving trucks going from point to point with a local driver like a yard dog is today doing the final last few steps. Manual trucks, man that's like some 1997 stuff lol

Swift has been getting nothingbut autos for 2 or 3 years, for company and O/O. With CAMs as a bonus.

That's the standard configuration now from manufacturers. Manual and radar free are special order.

Manuals, for big trucks is going bye bye, like it or not. Just like cabovers in the US went bye bye.. now will they, be all phased out nope.

There might be certain applications where manual might be preferred over an automatic.
But as far as just regular OTR and local. Within 5 to 10 years big trucks will just be like regular cars there will be few and far between that are manuals.

That may be true for trucks that don’t haul heavy and never get off the blacktop. What I was LOL’ing about was the very broad statement that trucks with standard shift transmissions have NO place in the modern world.

Stop at freightliner dealer and order your truck with manual transmission. Actually you can do it online also. Megas are hiring people who don't have capabilities to learn driving manual trucks. Second reason is the fuel economy. All manufacturers make trucks with manual transmissions.
