Any 2019 Manual Trucks?

Amazing what the sheep think these days

 

Manuals are very much available.....it's only the megas going to autos. I'm not sure why, it's a heavier transmission

 

I'm not a Swift driver, but...

Supposedly better fuel economy
Supposedly easier on maintenance
Lack of driver experience shifting
Mega's buy trucks in bulk so a new tranny (if needed) is cheaper than a manual

But #3 I think is the biggest one now-a-days, so they don't tear up the equipment as quick

 

Brother I've had an auto, and it comes with it's share of problems. If a driver don't learn exactly how to drive it, there will be lots of time in the shop. I can't tell you how many times it got hung in gear. You are onto something when you mention the megas buying in bulk. That's probably what they look at, bit if that transmission ECM or XY shifter goes out, that's gonna be costly

 

I drive (hold) one now with Averitt, and the way they set them up, it's a hot mess. So yes I did kind of get sarcastic with the other post...

But I've had the shifting fork go out on my 2015 Cascadia. Had a shifting sensor go MULTIPLE times on the same truck. Each time it had to go back to the dealer, cause of the 750K warranty. A new tranny for said truck is about 9k.

But Manuals going away (to go back to OP) That will never happen

 

We are dealing with truly disposable trucks. Megas get rid of them before 500,000. It affords them less capable drivers and maybe some fuel costs. As a one truck owner the only thing I can count on is my manual trans and rears. It's the two things that aren't disposable anymore.

 

I don’t know about autos being easier on the drive train. My Eaton 18 speed Ultrashift MXP has done its share of banging up things.
If I start out in any gear other than what it is programmed to start out in (3rd), it will wind the engine up to 2200 rpm in 2nd for three seconds before it decides to go to third, then when it goes to fourth, it will wind up the drive train for half a second, give up suddenly, making the truck lurch. Then go to fifth.

 

Lol I am no sheep, plus I dont drive anymore, but have converted my 95 t600, 15 speed to haul my camper. When I am not riding my Harley.

It's a shame that some has to use a derogatory remark, "sheep" when they have no clue about the person.....

 

I doubt we'll ever see self driving vehicles when we don't yet even have trains that can run without an engineer or conductor.

 

2 main reason why

1. Unions have been fighting it hard...

2. It takes a train hell long way to stop and radar is not there yet for the distance it needs to look out at....

Useless fact: 1st automated train was 1968 in London subway... so it's nothing new....
