Lol. I dated a girl from Burns Flat when we were in high school that drove an old beat-up purple Pinto wagon. She was a pretty girl, but my buddies made fun of her in that car till one day she showed up in a brand new V8 Camaro her folks bought her for graduation.

JD, having your own gig is obviously desirable for anybody like you that thinks well beyond the minimum required to do the job, but it sounds like the folks that you work for rely a great deal on your input, and that makes for a much better place to work for somebody with your experience, knowledge, and ambition.

You would put much more time into your own business, and that is hard with a young family. The financial security and ability to spend more time with the kids is very important. I would guess that there will come a time and an opportunity when it will be the right move, but I for one (as someone who has spent half their working life on my own business) respect your decision to stick with what you have going on now.

Words of wisdom from an idiot!

More headroom in the bed of my ‘78 Chevy stepside I drove back then, plus she was embarrassed to drive the wagon on the drag, so she’d just park it in town somewhere and jump in with me.

I've never understood the desire to put on big wheels and lift kits. Lots of people like it, but it ain't for me.

The Chevy dealer in my town takes brand new pickups and lifts them and installs custom wheels. My sister bought one and got pissy when I told her it looked like an oilfield douchebag special.
