Are you sure Pete? She might be my age... that means she probably doesn’t know how to even do an oil change. She probably even thinks blinker fluid actually exists...

Nevermind, that’s not the point though, right?

I remember when I was a CAD guy at my first job. Would go out to the CNC operator and shoot the crap from time to time.

The boss man over hears us joking one day,

“They just really need to hire me a helper, Stwik. I’m getting to old for this crap.”

“John, the only helper you want is one with tits bigger than baseballs and shorts that don’t go below the waist line.”

“Well yeah... she’ll be pretty to stare at. Day dreaming. The day will go by faster and I won’t be miserable. Higher productivity...”

He was a bloody hoot I tell ya...

This. And not knowing how much your check will be from week to week and the biggie, I'm not getting any younger.

I want to get back into a truck so bad now I can't stand it and coming on here everyday with you guys doesn't help any. Truckin has been ruined now anyway as far as I'm concerned, at least from when I did it. I don't need a computer telling me when to stop or when to go to bed and I'm dang sure not sittin somewhere for 34 hrs and twittlin my thumbs just because.

I hate my job and despise going to work everyday BUT it does afford me time and other things that truckin can't so I am fortunate in that way. If it could give me the solitairity that truckin can it would be a great job, I just don't play well with others anymore.

I don't know how you guys do it day to day. Having to deal with DOT, low pay, cheesy vacation time, medical, being gone, other drivers that don't have a clue what it's really about, non-professionalism, breakdowns because of a mandate, (DEF/Emissions), that has been forced down everybody's throats and you O/O's with all the paperwork you have to keep up with and file. God bless all of you guys, I know what it takes to keep this country movin, it's just a shame that most don't and take everything for granted.

That right there is what I’m talkin about.

Sitting on a location, hooked up and unloading sand. 4 sand trucks beside you and a sea of white company pickups across the way. 16 pumps running wide open, black smoke rolling, blowers humming, dust a flying. Everyone with steel toes, FR’s, and hard hats. Dirty, sweaty, gettin the job done in the Texas summer heat.

Then THAT comes rolling in. It’s the only thing on location that’s spotlessly clean. Parks by a doublewide and jumps out with his designer jeans and snakeskin boots, phone to ear, Carl’s Jr. in hand, and glides inside. That’s the company man and he runs the show.

I’ve got nothing against the truck, per say. If that’s what a man likes, be my guest. But that’s why they get the “douchebag” reputation. I’ve met a handful of good company men, and a whole lot of jerks.
