Thank you. I clean forgot that part. I was all over that hotel incident, I did not consider the detail of the after libel case and the possibilities.

Thank you kindly. Hope your week goes well.

OP if you go this route I wish you luck. You have to stand up.

There’s a lot details missing from this story like what brand of bourbon did you get?

Add to this one...for everyone else going into orientation at some company who, during orientation says ANYTHING AT ALL about an 'Alcohol Policy':

if you are sitting in a motel, and your company is footing the bill, you are on their time. Not yours. Doesn't matter if you're there for a week. Be cautious. Walk to a bar and get loaded after 5pm. I normally will put the DoNotDisturb sign on the door to keep the housekeepers out...especially if it's one of those motels where the company put's all the rookies. I saw a company do a raid on a motel I was staying at, on a Saturday afternoon, with everyone sitting in their rooms watching college football, and sent a dozen students home for violating company alcohol policy. It's stupid, I agree, but if they're paying the bill OR you are waiting for a trainer, you are supposed to be sober and ready to go at any moment. We had a bar right next door and a hotel with a bar and lounge across the street, and a grocery and liquor store a block down. I would "go for a walk." A long walk. Right across the street. I sure as hell wouldn't tell anyone that I was going to a watering hole. Not with all the snitches around in the business nowadays.

Anyway's @Chinatown recommended Carolina Cargo. Just get your foot in the door and complete your training and run with them for a bit. It will help you get your foot in the door and get started. Not ideal, but it's a start.

    Luck in battle.

    C...c....
Cr England? CRST? Covenant? I shudder in intellectual guessing.

But yeah, as the others have covered, the bottle to the room was totally on you. No witnesses.

In regards to actually drinking on the job, don’t. Off the clock and down in a paid hotel? Your a grown man, but like Triplesix put it, it’s your business, keep it that way.

I wish the newbies and the rookies would ask for advice B-E-F-O-R-E making a decision. Perhaps I can help
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey rookie! Going home for "hometime" and going to see family and friends? DON'T DO DRUGS. Odds are pretty good that on your return, you will be called in for a "random" drug test as soon as your hometime is over. Do not store or transport booze or beer in your truck! If being around friends or family makes you want to join in the festivities, avoid them if you want to continue driving. Discussing drug laws with anyone in this forum is MOOT. Don't bother...your fight is with the US Department of Transportation, not with anyone's attitude on drugs. Don't like the rules, don't play the game. Want to play the game? Abide by the rules.

Hey newbie! Do not do ANYTHING which may require ID for people 21 and over while you are in orientation. Keep your mouth shut about ANYTHING you did in the past, at your home...whatever. Office candy smiling at you? Don't fall for it. They will send you home. Pay for Porn on the TV in the motel? Dont do it. They will send you home.

Are you gay, lesbian, tranny, married or single, parent, US citizen or immigrant, Democrat or Republican, sportsfan...WHATEVER! Listen to what I am about to say:

Keep your business YOUR business. Be it in orientation or your trainer truck. When you get issued your own truck, you can breathe a sigh of relief and do whatever it is that floats your boat. Do not tell anyone in the office what floats your boat. Ever. Office people are NOT your friend. They are only being nice because their company handbook tells them to be nice to you. That way, you do not realize as quickly that they view you as cattle coming in to the slaughterhouse. You should view them as the bottom rung of the ladder, but keep that to yourself too.

EDIT: There are quite a few of you that are coming from a life where all you did was smoke weed and play video games. You got into trucking because you wouldn't have to worry about a place to live if you went OTR. Now all you have to do is wire in a power inverter and get your internet hooked up. You had to give up the weed. Hard fight, especially after you wired your brain to function with it. When you go home, all of your longtime friends and family are going to want to see you. And they're going to have dope for you.
The odds are 50/50 that your company is going to call you for a random when you come back from hometime. No, it doesn't sound random to me either. You have better odds at Russian Roulette.

"How do you know the odd's, Six?"

Because when I first started (the 2nd time), half the times I was coming off hometime, they called me for a random. But I don't do drugs. Heck, I dont even drink coffee.

OK I broke this all apart to read it.

I won't lecture you on the booze crap, you are old enough to know better but I will say that the cleaning lady is really a problem.

IF THIS WAS ME, I would call the cops on her the second I found out about her going through your stuff. I would have said that there was something missing and she is taking pictures of the contents of my property, maybe to steal it later on.

I would at that point gotten a lawyer and sued the hotel, the cleaning lady and the company for lost wages and wrongful termination.

The hotel, even privately owned still has to abide by the laws of the state and most of the states do not allow them to go through guess's property no matter who pays for the room. If it is a chain hotel I would make a huge deal about it, they most likely would have fired the manager or who ever gave permission for the cleaning lady to go through your stuff and fired her.

NOW I know some of you won't agree with this but what the hell is a non-employee of a company going trough personal belongings for the company?

Why shouldn't they pay for the damages?

The company asking about it actually seems to violated your rights as a driver, you are not a slave, you were not being paid to sit there in the hotel room, it doesn't matter what their policies are, they have no right to tell you what to do while you are on your own time, they do if you are in the truck but nothing else.

Everyone e is assuming the op isn't lying.
When he states he put in a hundred apps and can't get hired for"company policy violation" I have to call b.s.

Then he states the cleaning lady went through his stuff to find a bottle.

No, what likely happened is it was left in plain sight on a counter or an empty in the trash. Either way I doubt we will ever be told the truth from the op.
