i thought about using my tempature gun to gheck temps at different places , just an idea , after pulling a hill or just after engine warms up open hood and measure , you can get them anywhere for about 90 dollars i use mine alot for rear temps or trans if i dont trust the gauge, works good on u-joints too to determine if one is about to go due to vibration ...........i keep mine beside th seat LOL.......:biggrin_25525:

Never thought about that, I kept running through my head on how to get a automotive temp gauge inline with the fuel, put two sensors in, one before the cooler and one after, that way you get real time and actual fuel temps. I will go 'shopping' now that I am home, just waiting to get the truck back out of the shop, ugh, kingpins and steers again and only had 140K miles on em.

I have a brand new tranny cooler somewhere around here, need to find it, but before I mount it, one thing I haven't seen discussed, is what would be the minimum tube size of a fuel cooler? Too small of a tube size could = restriction which also = heat, and possibly other problems. Rockhauler, would you know the tube size, along with the L & W of that factory cooler you were referring to earlier? Thanks

Hey Droy, it's been awhile. My cooler is 18" x 6" with three 3/4" OD tubes. the fitting's are the same as the return line from the head to the fuel tank. on pete's iv'e seen from factory it was mounted between rt fuel tank and drive shaft under the sleeper, but i seen one on a KW in front of the rad. he didn't know if it was factory. it's warming up now so i am goeing to install mine in front of the rad. i have a temp. gun and will check our three trucks to see fuel temp in tanks. mine now in summer runs around 135. fuel at pump is around 92. the factory cooler is only around $170 at pete

I havent forgotten about the fuel temps, just got distracted this weekend trying to get fixed so I could get back trucking this week. I should have sometime this upcoming weekend to get the temp sensors put on the fuel to see how much the cooler actually does work.

Thanks Rockhauler, as I suspected, my trans cooler tubes look to be 3/8", possibly 7/16"; think I'd be better off going get one at Pete.

Just saw a post from 550, looks like he was "voted off the island" WTF now?????.....
