Replacing king pin for first time

Good heavy 6x6 and 4x4 wood blocks, usually oak. We always called them crib timbers on the drilling rig. Most of the land here in WV is flat, it's just tilted up up on its side .... we would crib up the lower side with timbers to place the leveling jacks on.

 

We had them to level the dry bulk 'pigs' on road jobs, good oak 12' X 4" x 4ft.; Stacked many onto a stake truck for transport to new job sites

 

I'm against taking any of my vehicles to anyone to do anything.

If I had a truck that was a project truck or that I had the time to work on I might attempt kingpins.

But if I had to have it done on a quick time frame I would take it to somebody. It's one of those kinds of jobs, one of the few.

Kind of like Hendrickson suspension bushings. You can do them yourself, but that kind of a job it's probably better to just let the spring shop do it.
