I agree with you as you wrote this however you are leaving something very important out. You can list an employer that has paid you under the table as a part of your job history with very little fear of repercussions later. The reason is pay methods are not part of the process. If this person can get the coffee house to say yes this person worked here between these dates that's all that is needed. They are not going to say oh and we paid them under the table. I know some apps ask for rate of pay yearly income etc etc. answering these questions is not admitting violations of the law.

true, they do not check pay stubs.....i was looking at possible problems for both of them.....maybe not a warranted concern.

Actually a person should be very concerned about their employment history not matching their social security contribution (FICA) history. My point was in this situation proof of pay is not asked for or needed, that was all.

In @NoNoItsRobNotBob post you can see why this could be a problem.

When you work under the table, it' the same as not working there. The op knew this going in. Listing those jobs now is just gonna create more work, headache and take more time.

(Hello Mario's pizza shop. Tony the tiger? Never heard of him, he never worked here)

So if it' 10 years or 3 years, just be prepared to list whatever legal veritable work you have. Go the gaps in between. List unemployed, pan handler, stay at home watching girl friends kids guy.

YOU are 100% wrong. You have work history. you were just paid illegally. How you are paid is NOT what you report. This topic is about a job history question on an application to become a truck driver. It is not an extensive FBI investigation where a person gets an anal exam! There is a huge difference here.

I'm going both by personal experience and as the person that does hiring for my company. The first sentence says it all, in the reg. If you are applying for a CMV job. When I started with USXpress, fresh out of driving school, My wife and I both had never driven a truck before' they required 10 years history. This could be verified by someone fresh out of driving school. Do they require 10 years or 3?, I would say if they are applying for a CMV job then they must provide 10 years. Now mind you I have worked for small companies that didn't require me to fill out application, we are talking about what is in the regulations.

Also, look at why the requirement is here.

It's to create a stumbling block for someone that got fired for popping hot on a drug test. Makes it that much harder to hide it. With that in mind I hope people can see why not listing work performed (even cash work) is important.

You really need to learn to read and comprehend English. That fist sentence is just that. The first sentence in a paragraph. It's the whole of the regulation that matter, not one sentence taken out of context.
