You can do an on duty inspection with no drive time. There is no mandate about on duty time.

Sure! I can do the inspection first! Then I get to take a 30 before I can go PC. Doesn’t matter. Not leaving the terminal for 45 minutes.

All this tough talk is very entertaining.

Mandate let's you take the PC whenever you want, it's like Going off duty. Now the company can put all kinds of restrictions if they wanted to.

My peoplenet only trips after 5. Mph don't matter. I was out of hours the other day at Bridgestone. Drove 1.5 miles to Pilot. I knew i was going to be long so went sleeper berth and had 4 in the bank when I got there. Used the 8/2 split and after 4 did a relay and went to my next delivery and spent the night there to get a fresh 10. With the doors closed and tandems shifted my clock said 10:03. I love it when a plan works.

I don't go on duty for inspections. I only do pre-trip, unless I find a problem during the day.

    Check this out

When will an electronic logging device (ELD) automatically start to record a driving mode or status?

Again right from FMCSA. Now you might be running under AOBRD, they are less restricted but can only use if it was installed before the ELD were required. They are grandfathered in untill I believe next year, then we must get ELDs.

Doesn't help when you're up on your 8 and it depends on how the company has it set up. I've heard that some companies have it set up that if you move at all, it puts you on drive time

    Expeditor Thanks this.

I don't understand why people hate Elogs so much when all they do is keep you in compliance with the same regulations you were supposed to be in compliance with on paper. As long as you're honest on elogs that's one less thing you have to think about. More attention can be placed on actually driving the truck, imagine that.

You old drivers can thank each other for elogs. Had you guys not violated HOS so blatantly we wouldn't all be looking at screens and watching our clocks count down. Rule violators ruin it for everyone.

    Thanks "oldies."
