Wow! 62mph! Good luck with that!! ;-) At least you'll feel like you are driving more miles because you'll be on the road longer. hehe

I agree with you about the old-school, new-school Arrow. I know Arrow ran a lot of freight way back in the day, even driving dryvans back then. Problem is, they have no freight nowadays, and what freight they do have, they are hauling with EQUIPMENT FROM BACK IN THE DAY!!! HAHAHAHA

    :biggrin_25525:

I'm sure the poster from the 70's could probably pick out one of his old steel flatbeds when he ran with them in the 70's.

If I were you, I would cancel my orientation and go somewhere else. This company is falling apart, from all the lay-offs of office people to the cutting back of hours the shop will be open to the fact that the trucks will be cut back to 62mph, and I could go on and on, good luck to you, be be prepare for BS overload.

Guys it is clear that you do not know what you are talking about. The company is in a complete restructure and are doing quite well. The bad part is that they are following the rules. Imagine that!

The truth is folks that the old outlaw days of driving are coming to an end. They have employed several DOT officers at Arrow to manage and fix some of the problems. in 2007 there were 20 rollovers! New training staff in 2008 as well as restrictions on speeds and log books have changed that In 2008 they had a total of 6 rollovers. So far zero this year.

The main reason for the change to 62mph is that the ...hmmm...the name of it?.. Safestat? Anyway that score is too high due to speed related violations. Not to mention fuel. I don't know how they figure that but...it is what it is.

They did turn the horsepower up so the trucks climb better...so there is something positive about it.

The company is fine. With that being said there are problems they are working on.

Oh and just for the record... police can now simple request qualcom info on any driver for up to 30 months. That is as of Monday February 16th 2009. At least in OK. So if your qualcom doesn't match your log books...your asprin is HIT! Now... is Arrow the best company for everyone..no. Probably not but it is great for a lot of folks.

Comparing income today during a meeting they are making the same money this year as they did last year and the year before that. It is the time of year and in fact they just signed a new customer for just over 300 loads per month.

But hey...who am I? Don't listen to me. I am just a dumb ole company driver making a very low income of around $1k wk right now. Yep it sucks, it's cold and 62 sucks.

I think everywhere is singing the blues right now. Especially drivers that are whining about loads but can't do the proper paperwork and follow directions on time. They get ticked and leave for somewhere else where they can't get milage and then just add another negative post about that company too.

Oh.. and the oldest line haul trucks in the fleet are 2006. There are some old steele trailers still in use. That is if 2004 = old.

Anyhow...I guess I could get on here and keep going but this crap just isn't true. It's not guys. There is no reason to post negativity just because you want to vent or add something you don't know about. It's ok to not know but there is no need to flat out lie either. I am just one of you guys. I have no proof of what I tell you on here just like you have none when you post.

Just give them a closer look if you want to work for a really great family ran company driving decent equipment. I did and could not be more proud to be a part of the team.....

Give Linda a shout in recruiting and tell her Paulie C. sent ya. I will buy you dinner when you come to Tulsa if I am around.

    Have a great one guys.

Hey Paulie, actually, I do know what I"m talking about. Unless Arrow just bought a whole buttload of aluminum spread-axle trailers between May of last year and now, then you are stretching it a bit. I promise you, I watched an argument almost come to a fist fight in the Dallas yard over a freakin aluminum trailer. You know, the kind of trailer that pretty much every modern flatbed company has been using for the past 15 years? Not to mention the few folks in Dallas or Houston who decided that it would be kewl to just pull the gladhands off the aluminum trailers they were using so nobody else could use them.

FACT: There is a huge shortage of modern aluminum spread-axle trailres (unless they spent a buttload of money on new ones in the past 10 months - doubtful).

FACT: Regional (cant comment on their linehaul, never ran it), especially southwest regional, chews up drivers and spits them out with paychecks of about $150 by the time they are ready to leave. That is personal experience. BTW, I never ran illegal (other than an extra 22 minutes one night trying to find a truck stop with spaces), I never tore up the equipment, matter of fact, I guarantee you that my truck was MUCH cleaner and better maintained than when I got it, and I BEGGED for loads. BEGGED.

No matter how blinded you are by the "glory" of that 3rd rate flatbed company, they are what they are. If you are doing great, I'm VERY happy for you, but many MANY former drivers there, even one who was singing their praises less than a year ago, have realized what a mess that place is. BTW, if they are doing so well, why are they laying off office staff? And for what it's worth, I dont blame them for turning the trucks down to 62mph. That just saves money, and in this economic environment, any company would be foolish to not do whatever they could to save bucks, including layoffs.

Oh, and as far as following the rules:

Why was I asked (almost forced) to run with TWO non-compliant steel trailers on two separate occasions last year? And those DOT officers were supposedly added before I was in orientation in March of 08. Dont believe the hype man.

    DlrDice,

I read in another thread that you have an approval from KLLM, but that it's in April? Honestly, I would recommend that you figure out a way to earn money before that orientation date and NOT go with Arrow. Read the KLLM threads carefully, talk with KLLM drivers. I've not heard a whole lot of complaints from them. Yes, everyone is suffering for miles, that is industry-wide, but you have a chance to start with a major reefer carrier that, in good times, appears to keep drivers running regularly. Given the choice, I'd scoop ice cream at Ben and Jerry's for a month and wait out the orientation at KLLM before I'd go with Arrow. None of my business and all, but been there, done Arrow, wish I would have gone KLLM instead when I had the chance, or stayed with TMC.

    DlrDice45 Thanks this.

Jarhed: Sorry it didn't work out for you. I hope things are better for you now. It is what it is. There are several trailers with two on each sitting at the shop today being unloaded. I am not certain what is going on in the office at all. I just know what I see and hear around the few folks I know.

Things are ok in heavy haul and line haul. I can't comment on regional as I have not a clue.

    Hang in there man...
