It's a bad time for all

But I hate to say this but if it were my truck I would fire the bad hygene guys too and the log violators

    Reason

First person your customer sees and smells reresents you

Second liability of a HOT runner it's not 1981 anymore

We have to clean up our image

    I know it's off topic a bit

    Best of luck knight drivers

Can you imagine if all the companies went that way? Might be able to hold our heads up a bit more. I'm sure you all have seen those septic tanks that are around. No wonder so many customers and the general public have a poor opinion of us. I know that's not the only reason, but if we all do our part to change that, it couldn't hurt. Nice to see a company trying something that should have been done a long time ago. Cudos!

Yesterday, I dropped off a load, a guy from the place climbed up on the running board, and hung off the window with snot running down his face, next I went to get loaded, nobody to be found in the shipping area, took an hour for them to return smoking and farting around on a hot load.

Yeah, our customers are top knotch lol!

Too right. Some customers are as bad as some truckers.

Knight is always hiring. You gonna be out of the Hutchins dustbowl? Looks like it will be a nice place in about another six months or so.

Good luck! Don't fall for that per diem deal. I worked there 12 days and they paid me every penny they owed me and also paid for my Haz-mat fingerprinting also gave me a cheat sheet to study. (which was pretty much the test) I know i've talked pretty bad about them on my previous post's. I'm just used to working for alot more money. Be firm with your dispatcher and if were me I would only haul the long stuff. They have their local driver's that make alot more than the insulting $10 an hour they pay you. Lots of things can happen when driving a big truck expecially in the city. I just laughed when they mentioned short stuff. The T.M. checks with each dispatcher each day and wants to know why each driver hasn't ran 500 miles.(at least they do at the atl term) They have freight to run. They will get you a load. Remember they are debt free and have tons of cash. They will ask you to buy a long set of jumper cables so you can bother the person in the truck beside you to get your truck started. The also require you to carry other tools that you have to purchace yourself. I did the per diem and ran 2300 miles and didn't make $500.00 bring home. I did a NYC 3 stopper and hauled a haz-mat load in that same week. If the (less than average)family plan bene's were taken out I would have made a little less than $400 dollars. These folks that say they average $800-$1000 (bring home) a week must be running at least 4600 miles a week and shutting down the manditory 12am to 5am rule they have. Just an FYI. Once again good luck.

Ok lets correct some things. Because Knight Refrigerated dose not run like this.

1st. They will provide the jumper cables and anything else you will need. If you have to jump the truck you do it off of the refer. There are post on the back of the truck for this. The only time I had to do this is after the truck set three days with the cooler plugged in. Every driver should carry basic tools that belong to you that you paid for.

2nd Some times you have to run short loads. That is how the game is played. If you don't then you will find your self not running at all. Some times you have to run a short load to get to the long one.

3rd. I do make what I say I did. And thats running 3000-3500 a week. I never run less then 2300. Most runs are 1200+ Now with Knight Trans they are lucky to get 2300 a week and there ave. run is 300 miles. thats why you run a refer. Because food has to move.

4th I never heard of any mandatory shut down time. They have never told me how to run my truck. I run it when, where and how I want.

5th local pay is $12 an hour and when I do it it's to kill some time between loads and they always give me 3-5 hours more then I did.

Here is the scenario of a Knight refer driver I shot the bull with at the yard in Seattle yesterday afternoon when I went to pu a friend of mine who works for them. He got his 397 to the terminal on Thursday morning after delivering a load in Auburn Wa. He was given a load that Pu in Kent Wa and went to Port Angeles Wa and was told to DH back He returned Thursday night and was given a load that delivered Friday in Tacoma Wa at 0600 he was not mtyd till 1300 waited till Saturday morning and was told to mty roll to Portland to Pu a dropped Costco load that delivered in Sumner Wa Monday 0900.

So for a 4 day period he will get around 525miles and $40 for detention pay and $48 for local pay. That's $72 a day before taxes. He told me he has 16,427 miles since the beginning of the year (20,000being average) and has only gone home for 4 days.

The term results may vary applies at any company. Not just refer versus dry.:biggrin_25525:
