I like the fact you're picking loads off a company board vs calling brokers negotiating rates and such. And unless Schneider has drastically changed, I know they have a ton of freight. I got my CDL with them in 1999.

You can pick loads off of load boards such as Uber Freight and Convoy without negotiating or talking with brokers. AND you can also negotiate with brokers on tons of freight, if you want, using DAT load board and lots of other load boards...

Lots of options other than Schneider....

    Roll on....

Oh I know there's lots of options, just started looking into it. I'm giving my current gig at least another year before I make any decisions. I figured I'd start looking at Schneider just because my time with them was a good one and at the time you could get "special" pricing on new trucks at dealerships they partnered with. That was 1999-2000. I know things are different now with lease option. Basically I'm trying to learn the O/O L/O side of trucking.

well, fuel being a huge expense, track your fuel and mileage. adjust your driving to maximize mileage.

pay attention and log the customers your current company goes to. you may learn valuable info to utilize later on if you do go the o/o route.

I'm doing LTL line haul, terminal to terminal so our customers run the gamut. I've always tracked my fuel economy just for my own amusement. Still good info though, thank you.
