DOT Physical ,Heart Tests in Mexico ?

Had a childhood heart surgery .Drove Class A for two years back in 2010 and got The Heart tests I needed to pass a DOT physical .Now that I live closer to the Border ,family members are saying I should go get it done and Mexico and can save a lot of money . I say this is the DOT, Federal government and I don't think they're going to accept a letter from a doctor in Mexico. Does anybody know what the actual rules and laws are on this?

 

I made 2 days until i got to the DOT physical part and then the company DR says I have to get a couple of heart tests done and letter from a cardiologist before I can come back and sign off on the physical. The paperwork doesn't specifically say it has to be a US cardiologist or not.

 

Good thing you got a second opinion. Better to make sure before expensive surgery etc. Yeah it's funny, I work out 5 or 6 days a week, used to win bike races in my teens but some guy next to me in class will pass the DOT even though he weighs about 400 pounds.

 

Got all my heart test done and then I found a doctor to certify my medical card for 2 years. There may be lots of doubters out there and people that say oh you can't get certified or no one's going to certify you but sometimes it just comes down to the discernment and discretion of the doctor you choose . He's the one that decides to sign the medical card. .

 

Yes maybe but I also paid $685 cash for all the required heart tests. Normal price $1200. Doc said my heart health was very good and I went farther and did better than avg on stress test. Could tell he was not familiar with DOT, so his attitude was just let a DOT Dr looks at test results and decide. So the DOT Dr passed me after looking at heart tests etc. BUT, there's still a trucking company doc have to go through. So I will see what happens and research companies.

 

I got a physical from my own dot Dr. He certified me for 2 yrs with my heart tests. Then Swift said it wasn't valid and gave me a 1 yr certification. Oh well at least I'm IN.
