The best thing you can do, is talk to the guys that have them, the mechanics that work on them, && ignore the brochures and salesman. Find out the positives & negatives from their points of view and make your choice bases on their input. For example the mechanics says those are always in here for... Stay away.. it's lots of down time & repair bills. Or a few drivers say they get 3 miles to the gallon... Ouch your revenue goin b spent on fuel.. stay away etc etc

Do you think that I should do the same process on leasing from the trucking company?

It'll probably be a new truck & covered for an amount of time. When it expires do it if you can/ want. But save up because the emissions components tend to go 1st; that mandated DEF system is ####. Our 3 year old KW was down for a week because of it.

DEF in itself isn't mandated (fair enough). But that's how all the manufacturers are going about meeting the requirements of

40 CFR 86.007-11 Emission standards and supplemental requirements for 2007
and later model year diesel heavy-duty engines and vehicles.

Which is why deletes are illegal.

You can pull a 80K load with a 250hp engine, if you're not in the mountains (I've done that and more). It really all depends on how fast you want to get there.

I believe you, it’s just with my lack of experience I’d never try to do that

I agree 100%. Don't forget the larger engine, trans, and so on will cost more to fix when it breaks. It's not a bunch, but it does cost more to fix. It cost somewhere around 3-5 thousand more to inframe my C16 to all my buddies C15

All the new trucks are the same cheap as dirt interior made from cheap plastic. And way to many electronic displays that are broken very easy, and cheap rocker switches, and no ashtray, or vent windows, I dont think I've even saw a cigarette lighter in this 579 yet??
