New steer tire blowout causing damage

I doubt it. 40k miles is a lot of use. If the tires have a warranty you might get a new tire or a prorated price on a new one. As for the damage you'll probably ended up eating that. That's truckin'

 

So much can be pinned on the driver not properly caring for the tire that you will have to prove that the tire is defective so I will say no. I was taught a long time ago to run a gloved hand over that tire as much as possible to find a broken chord because they are small so you do not see them easy but then your glove gets a snag which means something going wrong. They said to use silk gloves but I only use whatever I have.

 

What brand?

 

4 months of driving til that tire popped? I think you may have to eat that cost. They are going to say you caused that damage

 

Looks like a retread gone wrong

 

I have the same thing happened on my pick up truck with some BF goodrich tires.

I took him back to discount tire and told him what happened, but they denied any liability.

Good luck trying to take them to court, tire companies have more money than Bill Gates almost

 

Tread separation like that on a Tier 1 tire is unlikely. I would run it up the ladder.

Doubt you will get anything for the damage to your truck. But, Bridgestone/Firestone auto has a giant 6.5 million tire recall going on for tread separation. So you may make some headway ... not from the retailer, but from Bridgestone.
