90 day wait on benefits?

Yes 90 days is common it falls in line with their 90 probation period.
I've seen not even a handful of first day. And a lot of 30 to 60 day waiting period as well.

 

There's two union companies in Ohio that hire new cdl graduates. Check with them about health insurance. Most Teamsters outfits have BCBS at a pretty cheap rate, compared to other companies. Don't know how long you have to wait to be covered.

Many newbies are eliminated from the industry in 90 days due to too many accidents etc. It's cheaper for the company to hold off and wait and see if you survive long enough to be worth spending money on.

 

Homesickness is not a problem when you encounter many areas of the USA that are really good. Home is where YOU are. Wherever you go there you are.

As for me I am the last person to talk about home, growing up the family could and would not be bothered and it was better to emigrate to a better more free state and get out of the excessive laws and regulations as much as possible. So I was successful at that. I learned to love my new home here in Arkansas. It's not much but way better than what messes I left behind.

It doesn't really matter since O/P is looking for reefer, but as of April when I left Millis was 1st of the month after 60 days employment for benefits to start. May have changed but I haven't heard that it has.

And for the record, I loved my time at Millis, a person (especially a newbie) could do a lot worse then Millis, but their medical isn't that great.

The pet policy was just created there but it's terrible. Pet has to be in cage anytime truck is moving.

 

Most Jobs Trucking or otherwise are 90 days. Due to cost of hiring I imagine. Werner used to have 1st day coverage.Others do also as a hiring incentive But 90 days is standard practice even Union jobs I’ve had years ago
