Question about doing Florida pretrip in front of examiner, one student says it must be done in a certain order and exactly verbatim...is that true?

I have a class b from another state and as long as everything was mentioned, it didn't matter.

You would think the state would require a 10 man team in a operating room to surgically go over the 18 wheeler over 2 hours front to back and both sides top to bottom before moving a inch.

We don't have time for that. There is 50 people waiting to take a test today.

So. Learn your manual in whatever state you are in. With a Heavy's School on how to get it done...

Walk up to the truck start talking about the overall condition of the rig, point out the lighting that is required in the green DOT book and then work on the behavior of the parked vehicle and so on. By the time you got to the hood to get at the oil and water and begin to expound on the little details the trainer or tester will always display a human tendancy to say "Right, That's quite enough, get in the truck we gotta drive."

For me that usually happens when I am over one of the steer tires after working down the engine block, firewall, filters, airlines, air braking working my way towards the hubs and bearings with many words pending.

That usually takes care of that part of the test.

I wish you well with your upcoming test. If you are in a school and have not been taught how to do the pretrip as Florida wants it done I don't know what to advise you. I have always told people when asked this question do it the way the examiner tells you. Make sure you and the examiner are on the same page and ABOVE ALL don't assume ANY examiner will "just" move on after you do one side of the trailer. Oh and one more thing. Think here for a minute. Do these words make any sense? (one student says?) STOP asking other students and ask your instructor!

Order does not matter. Just make sure you do EVERYTHING in the section they specify.

What do they call a doctor who graduates at the top of his class? Doctor

What do they call a doctor who at the bottom of his class? Doctor

Order doesn’t matter, but it make more sense to start at one corner of the truck and work your way around and back to that corner so you don’t miss anything
