Home Time after 14 out.

You may be out 14 days, but you will get a week off for home time, maybe. Obviously, it's a ploy by the companies to get drivers. Home time and trucking don't mix well.

 

Staying out 14 days....they are murderers. It means you have to spend 12 - 13 nights in the truck. Little quality sleep, diesel fumes inhalation and ####ty food. This is why an average truck driver's life ends before they reach 60. Get a quality motel every 4 days or so...go to Outback for a good steak (their rib-eye is perfect) and beer.

 

Home time. LOFLMAO. You are at home behind the wheel of that company truck. When you enter the sleeper, you are home. The house you think is home with your family. That is like going to the Outlaws for a yearly visit.

 

ok ... is this for drivers or owners?

owners dont need home time, they just go home.

If you are a company driver going home costs you money. You have to be out, ideally from early march all the way to late October. You should have a few 5 figure amounts of money saved up before winter.

By the next spring your taxes would be out of the way and you will be anxious to hit the road again anyway. If you were careful you should have quite a bit of savings to start off with more than that the following year.

Home is your sleeper and your commute to the office behind the drivers wheel is about two steps and done.

Pace yourself with a quality hotel regularly. And if you are really lucky, within 10 years you might buy a few trucks, have other people run them while you go home every night.
