First, I want to thank all the truckers who in the years of cross country driving I've done have guided me through storms with your hazards and shown me the safe places to bed down in my 4 wheeler for the night. If I ever made you uncomfortable by passing I'm sorry.
That said, my life is falling to ruin. Failed engagement, and basically blacklisted from my previous career, which, though, honestly, wasn't panning out the way I thought it would. Currently have no money, and a few clothes on a friend's couch after feeling our of a toxic situation and I honestly dunno where to go to get myself a CDL and a job otr. I've no moving violations, bit even a speeding ticket and an in my mid 30s. I have never been convicted of anything either. I'm located, currently, in socal, but I want to just run the 48. I just need help finding a company which I could afford to get in with given I have no money, no experience and was self employed for years. Any help would be much appreciated, but I just need to get back on my feet before I run out of couch to stay in.
Many thanks
Need more info/recommendations for job

Prime Inc.will probably hire you and send you to cdl school in Salt Lake City.
Stevens Transport starts a new class every Monday. Don't know where they'll send you to school, but they'll probably hire you.
After that, there's:
Swift Transportation
CRST
Unless somethings changed, Swift and CRST train in Fontana.
Pick one and hit the road!
Edit: Swift and CRST do hair follicle drug test, so need to be clean 12 mos. to pass.
Stevens and Prime do urine drug test, so need to be clean 90 days to pass. -
Thanks chinatown. I put in an application with stevens as well but correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't prime require cash up front? I honestly and currently have $6 to my name and with no family not anyone to really ask
-
I don't think any of those require any cash up front.
Prime will advance you $200 weekly, then after school and you hit the road, they deduct a weekly amount to pay it back. I've heard the deduction is something like $20 or $40 dollars weekly.
You'll get meals and lodging furnished with all of them. -
Thank you again. I'll shoot them over an app though I am a bit worried driving reefer

-
Also try Magnum or Jim Palmer.
Millis has been mentioned here.
A few others??? -
Also should mention filly drig clean unless they count the coffee
Chinatown Thanks this. -
If they count coffee I'm toast.
WesternPlains Thanks this. -
Don't worry about reefers; I did it for 18 years and overall liked it. Most reefer companies that hire new cdl grads have fancy trucks, to keep the drivers happy.
