Unloading intermodal container

    good evening members ,

    How is an intermodal container unloaded when the container is short , and centered on a longer chassis ? The door are not at the edge of the chassis , how would this be unloaded at a dock ?

    Chassis slides back on the axles. Just like sliding tandems on a van trailer.

    I have two different 40/20 spread axle setups that slide under. There are long chassis with center mounts and decking from the back to the rear of the centered 20. We had a chance to buy 20 that had metal grid to reach the centered 20 and I remember old sealand chassis with a wooden deck that we were using for 20 foot tanks before the started the drop frames for liquids.
