Yes I'm still with LCT. If you're going to run solo, let your dispatcher know from DAY 1 that you like to run hard, you like to run long runs, and you'll run anywhere where there's freight to be hauled. At first they will test you out to see how you're gonna do and what you're made of, but if you pick up and deliver your loads on time and don't hit anything, they will give you all the miles you can stand. Right now I'm running anywhere between 4000 and 4500 miles per week SOLO, and if you don't believe that, I can show you every log page I've filled out since I started with the company.

In one of my old posts I mentioned that you shouldn't send in an application if you like to run out west, or something to that effect. Well, I just came back from running from Orlando to Chicago, Chicago to Vancouver, WA, Vancouver WA to Gaffney SC, and Gaffney SC back home to FL. We run everywhere, and although I did not believe that when I first started, it's the truth. Again, if you're like me and you like to run hard and you'll run anywhere there's freight to be hauled, you will go a long way with this company. That's the kind of drivers they're looking for. The delivery appointments are tight, you have next to no time to screw around after you pick up. This isn't always true, it applies more to the long runs. The shorter runs (NC to Miami for example) tend to give you more time than you need, EVEN if you goof off a lot. I picked up a load of vitamin water in NC just the other day on 02/17 at 7am. It didn't deliver until 1:30pm on the 19th. If you're a solo driver and you live in FL and it's been two weeks or longer since you left the house, it would be in your best interest to automatically assume that a load going to FL is an indication that you're gonna be sent home for your home time. You may end up never getting a load to FL unless it's because they're gonna send you home. That's how it is for me. If I can think of anything else that might come in handy, I'll post it.
cday1008 Thanks this. -
Acct6629:
That's good to hear! It sounds like you are doing good out there. I don't mind running the Northeast but would like some West loads once in a while.
I am still waiting for a space for orientation. I hope they call soon or I'll be climing the nearest water tower with a rifle!
I'll try to keep you posted though this forum and if you want, when I get into orientation I'll drop your name as a reference. -
Call them, and call them often. Ask for Ashley in recruiting. Keep in regular contact with her until she gets you a spot in orientation. Don't worry though, you'll get to meet her once you're there. She's SMOKING hot.
cday1008 Thanks this. -
I hear ya on the smokin!, I just hope she has a sence of humor I have been calling every two to three days.
Because I have been off the road a few years, I have to wait for a trainer truck to come available. I was getting worried that the freight was drying up, but from your experience they seem to be going strong. -
Act and Cday seem like recruiters to me.
I have a good freind who drove for LCT for about 6 months. He lives in Florida, not too far from their terminal.
I trust this guys judgement and know he is a good driver. He reported nothing but problems with this company.
Cute things like you have to lay out money for lumpers, and wait to get reimbursed.Extremely poorly maintained equipment and nowhere near 2,000 miles a week.
I'm gonna send him this thread. He'll get a kick out of ACT and his 4,500 mile weeks, especially with the economy in the shape it's in.
Go on other boards and see what they say too.I'm sure it won't be good.
If I were you ,I'd keep looking. -
I'm sure that your "good" buddy had some problems but find a Trucking Company that doesn't have some bad posts. There are alot of factors which come to bear when choosing a Trucking Company. You might find the right one on the first shot or it may take you a long time. You have to enter this career field with open eyes, expect some rough patches and keep pushing on.
What is your freind doing now? Is he still driving? I would like to hear his story... that may help me from making the same mistakes. -
^^^^
I'm a brain surgeon ,too in my other internet alter ego..
My good buddy..Oh I get it a ### joke..How mature.
I wouldn't give you advise at all.LCT sounds like a good fit for you.You don't pay attention, so it'd be a waste of my time.Read my previous post.I outlined his complaints.
Enjoy your time there.
Anybody that's not interested in being screwed around by a dirtbag carrier, stay away from LCT. -
Yeah you sound like a brain surgeon...
You couldn't give advice because you have no real experience. You haven't worked for LCT or any other company as far as anyone can tell.
Let me get this straight...
Your buddy:
1.) He is upset that he has to pay for a lumper and then get reimbursed? Cry me a river! Tell him to grow up and stop being so pansy a%$#d. Either lump his own freight or pay and wait for reimbursement. This isn't a new concept or exclusive to just LCT.
2.) "Extremely poorly maintained equipment" Is he a mechanic now? Maybe as a "professional driver, he (and you) need to learn how to take care of your equipment. There are other ways to get your truck serviced. If this was true wouldn't this "story" show up in the safestat reports? Oh... thats right you are too smart to check that!
3.) Just because you or your buddy can't seem to get 2000 miles a week from his DM doesn't give you the right to critize act6629. So he may have had good weeks lately, his DM may be working hard for him. If you look at the route that act6629 says he ran, the miles could be acheived. Maybe not next week, but it is possible to have the loads come together and have a good run.
And lastly, until you can speak from experience, you should stick with subjects you understand like looking for another company you can use to get experince and then dump. -
