My little brother is considering coming out and teaming with me in a Tractor trailer. He is over the age of 22, however, he hasn't had his drivers license a full year yet. Will he be able to obtain a CDL and a job, or should he wait the full year?

He simply not get his license till then, or been unable to hang onto it for a year. I guess either way my answers gonna be the same which is wait until he's at least two years.

Nothing stopped him from getting his license, he just waited until this point to get it.

So he's never really driven much of anything? Well I guess you haven't picked up all the bad habits then yet, you'd have to check with the DMV see what they say.

    Rigsixfiftyone Thanks this.

Are you the owner of the truck cause thats the only way i see him getting a start with you for now, & what he's never had a licence before? now he wants to go driving big rigs? Don't get me wrong and i'm sure other experienced drivers would agree i mean its possible hes a complete natural and will pick it up straight away however that's very rare it just takes years of road sense to really be able to suss out your situation on the road this off course comes with years of experience its not just about driving the truck in a straight line is it? Anyway as a driver i'm sure you understand what i'm getting at, if your going team with a company as your employer its really there decision to make.

I'm a CDL holder, not a driver yet. Obviously, us teaming wouldn't happen right now. He's had his DL for 9 months now. My question was if there a length requirement for him to obtain his CDL.

Most companies require a DL for 12 months. Some want 24 mos.or 36 mos., but most just want 12 mos.
