Unless you took the skills test for "A", you're not qualified to drive that class. I would go back to the DMV and have them verify everything. Driving a vehicle you're not qualifed to drive is an "OOS" offense and a fat fine.

From his state:
The weight will kick you into class A, without a hitch. And it WILL be a valid Class A CDL.
You're testing for a weight/combination class of CDL. The only reason for the combination...is the weight.
A Fire Truck driver can get a Class A, with restrictions. But only needs a Class B, if the truck he operates doesn't exceed the weight limits.
And there is no way in #### you're going to get a Fire Truck driver on a skills test, pulling a 53 ft trailer. -
well if you have class a it means you can also drive class b, so i wouldn't worry over it since your friend the cop ran them. so your set then

When you took your class B skills test (backing and road driving) did you have a trailer or just the straight truck? If you had a trailer you may have qualified for a class A. If you did not have a trailer you got the wrong license.
Also, maybe you have a B license and an A permit? -
