So I just bought a 2016 Cascadia, and it has these mysterious buttons on the dash under the trailer brake:

They just say OPT 1 and OPT 2. Pressing them does not seem to do anything detectable. The dealer had no idea what they were for either.
Any ideas? And has anyone ever driven for Interstate Batteries? This seems to be a standard option for interstate batteries trucks, the other one from them on the lot also had the same switches.
Let's solve the mystery!

They’re pre-wired power buttins for optional accessories. I have my flashing amber beacons wired to the “OPT” switch on the dash of my 2017 Cascadia.
If you need to add any accessories to your truck you can just splice into one of those switches instead of having to wire to the fuse box and mount a new switch somewhere.Tb0n3, Rounded_nut, Rideandrepair and 5 others Thank this. -
Well, they're probably on the CAN bus, so it might be a little more involved to utilize them for random accessories.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Unfortunately they tend to do that even without the magic buttonsRideandrepair and 91B20H8 Thank this.

I used an in-line wire connector and spliced the “hot” wire for my lights directly into the power wire off of that switch. I’m not an electrician, but it certainly worked great for me.Rideandrepair, PermanentTourist and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I have a new mechanic telling me my D13 is sheeot and I need a freightliner with a Detroit. But my D13 has been swell so far. Can't help but think it's the luck of the draw with engines.Rideandrepair, PermanentTourist and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Is that an old Prime truck?

How it's driven, and maintained ain't luck.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
