    Please define good money.
If i gross 627\wk (1900m # .33), after taxes and insurance, barring all other deductions
because I don't know what they could be for a company driver. I'm making more than I would be at $10 hr for 40hrs a wk.
Please list other possible deductions that can be taken from a company driver's check.

Other deductions for a new driver fresh out of school are $45/week for tuition reimbursement and $25/week for escrow. The escrow only lasts till approximately $400 is in the account. The reimbursement last for a full year. And you won't be making $.33/mile out of school either, unless I misunderstood that part.

I heard a lot of the layoffs were people who had to many accidents or speeding tickets so PAM cut them loose.

well 15 years ago I got out of construction and went back to driving and started out at 29 cents a mile, so just for inflation starting pay should and I say should be at least twice that.

The .33cpm is in writing from Roehl Trans., I will be attending training there. I am not supposed to have an escrow or tuition payment made unless I leave, am terminated from employment or am not offered\refuse a position with Roehl. This information is as per there contract with students. Tuition is 2800 # 18% interest for 24months, unless you drive 120,000/240,000 solo\team miles. After the miles are met, the student owes nothing in return for the eduction. This does not mean the student will be offered a position, or even make it to the miles limit before leaving.

Does it make them perfect, far from it. I makes it a decent deal, assuming the driver can last the 120,000 miles after accepting the job offer. I assure you it will be a lot of B.S. thrown at the driver.

I have to agree that the driver layoffs were performance based. I am a Decker driver and keep in touch with a friend from who drives for PAM proper that I went to school with. We started shortly after Video. Of the others that started when we did, only one was laid off. I just keep doing my job the best that I can and try not to whine about the petty stuff. I don't let them walk over me either. No matter who I deal with Decker, PAM, or AFS admin people they all respond well to proper means of communication. I had hit a low spot around the holidays, like everyone else. But the last two weeks out I saw a very noticeable increase in my mileage. In fact I barely had time to get laundry done they were keeping me movin so much. Not a bad problem too have though. Especially now. I also try to to remember that there are other drivers that the dispatchers and load planners have to tend to as well. I know that it doesn't help MY situation, but... Guess I'm just not a selfish person. We are all in the same boat. Thats all for now, I've started rambling. Be safe out there.

What about someone who has their CDL with doub/trip/tank/haz endorsements but has no experience other than school 4 months ago? ROEHL has said that they have a 60 day window from graduation that they will hire you in, after that, you're SOL unless you want to pay and do the entire thing again.

Question answered.. They don't want you unless they can put you through their school and hold ya as an indentured servant for the term of contract.. The lady I spoke to told me to look for a different company unless I'm outta school for 2 years and willing to sign their contract.. All is fair in war and war..

Yes we do still have jobs, technically speaking anyways. I know that the April shutdown will take its toll as well. In any case, by my figures we all should be in pretty good shape by august seeing how alot of drivers have quit, been let go etc. You would think at some point, the balance of loads will be more than drivers. But then again, maybe I'm still asleep and this is my wakeup call. :)
